It’s almost the end of the year! I hope your 2015 has been a year of joy, laughter, love, and health. This year has gone so fast, but I’ve been incredibly blessed. Here are some highlights.
Children’s Book Published:
For three years, my friend, Kristyn Dors, and I worked on a children’s book called “I Love My Amazing Body.” Our mission was to create a book about loving and appreciating the body. We did it completely independent of a publisher or agent, which was a huge learning process for both of us. Last July, we launched a Kickstarter to fund hard-cover copies. The support for the Kickstarter was amazing. We were able to print 500 beautiful hardcover books and in November we released it. It’s been a dream come true. If you want to check it out, the book is available on:
First TV Gig:
December was truly amazing. I did my first SAG contract job. Because there are so many televised concerts and award shows in Los Angeles, there are opportunities to sing back-up for television specials or TV shows. I was able to sing with the choir performing on the Fox White Hot Holidays Christmas Special. We backed up John Legend, Patti Labelle, Wil.i.am, Mary J Blige, and the cast of the show Empire. It aired on Fox a few weeks, but can be streamed online. You’ll catch short glimpses or me during the songs with a choir (right side, middle) around minutes 18, 27, 38.
New Holiday Song “O Christmas Tree”:
I was able to record just one song this year, “O Christmas Tree.” It is a piano vocal, with some extra harmonies. Unfortunately, I’ve been fighting a few infections the last few months so recording was not easy. No need to worry, I’m doing much better. You can download the single or just stream it on my website.
Whale Trip and Mediation Releases:
On a personal note, I went on a bucket list trip in the spring. I visited a place in the Dominican Republic called the Silver Bank. it’s one of the two places in the world where you can swim with humpback whales. For years I’ve been fascinated with whales and whale song. I was lucky enough to not only swim with mothers and calves, but also get some whale song recordings. For a few years, I’ve been releasing sung meditation tracks under the name “Vocal Solfeggio Frequencies.” I layered a sung mediation chant with the whale songs and it fit perfectly. Pretty amazing considering the tuning of the sung chant is 528 hertz (for music nerds, you know that isn’t in the western scale). I love how it turned out. I am so thankful and humbled by your support. I wish you an incredibly wonderful holiday and a joyful start to the new year.
